OUR PROMISE
What
is the PROMISE?
Acts 2:39
For the promise
is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Acts 1:4-5
(Jesus),
being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise
of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized
with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
On the Day of
Pentecost the Holy Spirit filled believers with the supernatural power of God and empowered them to change their world.
OUR
HISTORY
Our First Service
That is why
we started The PROMISE Church on May 30, 2004 Pentecost Sunday. At our first service we had more than 55 people in attendance!
Our Origin
We started with a Bible Study Meeting
at Sis. Coco Herrera's home with a little over 10 at the meeting. We then started meeting at Sis. Rosa Espinoza's
home until we outgrew her house and needed a new place to hold our Bible Studies.
God
increased our attendence to the point of having 56 people in our Bible Studies. This neccesitated a move and TLC
Mortgage, on Clearwood, graciously opened their doors for us to have Bible Studies there.
Where
We have Been
Our first two service where held at the South Houston Community Center.
THE
PRESENT
Where are We Now
The Lord then
led us to rent a Methodist church that was no longer being used. The people from El Buen Pastor UMC have been very generous
to us and we appreciate them allowing us to use their building. We now average 70+ in Sunday School with some Sundays
seeing us with over 100 in attendance. God is truly Blessing!!!
NEW BUILDING PURCHASE and UPGRADES
Through God's grace and lots of prayer, we were able to purchase this building on August 8,
2006. We have also remodeled the main sanctuary and had our inauguration ceremony on Sunday November 19, 2006.
We had 150 in attendence on that day! Praise God for all those who visited.
What Is God Doing?
HURRICANE IKE
After
the destruction cause by Hurricane Ike in September 2008, we had to remodel the entire sanctuary. Our members worked
endless hours to prepare our sanctuary for worship again.
BOOT CAMP 2009
On March18-20, our church had the privilege to sponsor BOOT CAMP with
Matt Maddix. We had an awesome fellowship and discipleship and of course a great move of the Spirit. We had 39
baptized and 42 receive the Holy Ghost. We are still looking for lost souls so they can receive
the PROMISE of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit just like in the Book of Acts.
THE FUTURE
Where
Will we Be?
By the end of 2009 we pray to have 150+ in attendance on Sundays.
Pray with us for souls to reach and share the gospel!
